Type of vessel - Liberty Cargo ship How sunk - Torpedoed Former names - None Wreck height - 3m The 7,191 ton US Liberty ship was travelling as part of the convoy TBC 21. She was torpeded by German submarine U-772. Only 4 of her 41 crew were injured in the blast (one later died). The Black Hawk was abandoned, and the surviors taken on board the British corvette HMS Dahlia. The wreck now lies in 2 pieces. The stern is south of Portland Bill and the bow in Worbarrow bay.
The Day Around 1h 15 mins from Swanage, we aim to get to the Black Hawk Bow in time for the low water slack. That is followed by a surface interval while we head to the second dive site. Then a leisurely dive around Durdle Door before returning to Swanage.
Please bring enough gas for both dives and don't forget your lunch!
