Travelling from Blyth for Blaye with a cargo of coal the Westville was torpedoed by UB-35. All her crew were rescued.
The wreck lies in 40m of water, although 43m can be found nearby. She lies half over to port. The bow is broken and one of her boilers has rolled out of position. The steel bridge deck has slipped onto the seabed. At the stern a large propeller and gun can be seen. The wreck is known locally as the Six mile wreck.
