Travelling from Barry Dock for Southampton with a cargo of 3600 tons of coal the Redesmere was torpedoed by UB-40. She sank in 90 seconds taking 19 of her 25 crew with her.
The wreck lies over to port and is fairly broken. Her boilers, and donkey boiler stand prowd. Her stern gun, spare propeller and damaged propeller can still be seen.
