The unarmed SS Espagne was torpedoed by UC-71 while travelling in ballast from Le Havre for Newport. Only 3 of her 24 crew survived.
The wreck now lies to starboard. She is quite heavily broken.
The engine lies on its side and is covered in shingle. The rudder and propeller are still visible, with the spare propeller partly buried nearby.
